Two boards, two buttons: the ESP32-S3 receiver (RX) and the ESP32-C3 transmitter (TX). The ATV RX/TX app writes the same firmware from the phone without a computer (menu ⋮ → Firmware: it recognises the chip itself) and tells you when there is a newer one. This page is for flashing from a computer.

ESP32-S3 receiver firmware

Writes the receiver firmware of ESP32-DATV-RX (esp32-sdr-trx 1.0.0-rc4 with the cs4 format) into the flash of a Seeed XIAO ESP32-S3 / S3 Plus. Once written, the board starts the receiver by itself every time it gets power, and the ATV RX/TX app finds it.

  1. Use Chrome or Edge on a computer (Web Serial). Connect the XIAO with a USB-C data cable.
  2. Put it in download mode: hold BOOT, tap RESET, release BOOT.
  3. Click the button, choose the port (“USB JTAG/serial debug unit”), confirm; erasing is fine.
  4. When it is done, tap RESET (or unplug and plug in). The board now enumerates as 303a:1001.

This browser cannot talk to serial ports: use Chrome or Edge on a computer. Web Serial needs HTTPS.

ESP32-C3 transmitter firmware

Writes ESP32-ATV's fork of ESP32-DATV-SA into a Seeed XIAO ESP32-C3: the transmitter for the app's TX screen (live picture) and a stand-alone beacon. This build transmits nothing by itself until you store a loop with your callsign (TX screen → Save as beacon, or tx/c3_vidw.py). The same steps as above; the app can also write both firmwares from the phone (menu → Firmware). Licensed radio amateurs only.

Zapíše firmware přijímače do flash XIAO ESP32-S3. Chrome nebo Edge na počítači, USB-C datový kabel; držet BOOT, ťuknout RESET, pustit BOOT; tlačítko výše, vybrat port, potvrdit. Po dokončení RESET. Firmware vysílače do XIAO ESP32-C3 stejně druhým tlačítkem; sám nevysílá, dokud neuložíš smyčku se svou značkou. Oba firmwary umí nahrát i aplikace z telefonu (menu → Firmware).
